Using a wedding hashtag is a wonderful way to collect the photos from your guests for all of your wedding celebrations. We have a few DO’s and DON’T’s to get you started.
DO: research your hashtag before your wedding. Make sure your no one else is using your hashtag, or their wedding has long since passed. It will make things easier for you, and keep things polite for everyone.
DON’T: wait until your wedding day to start using your hashtag. Have your guests use it at your bridal shower, bachelorette party (if you dare), and your fun times during the wedding preparations.
DO: Put your hashtag everywhere! Think bridal shower invitations, wedding invitations, and on creative signs throughout your wedding decor. Keep your guests informed so that they can participate and you can get some great photos!
DON’T: endorse your guests using their phones during your ceremony. While you will want to capture all the moments of the day, kindly remind your guests that you have hired an excellent wedding photographer to do the job. It is so much more meaningful for everyone to be present and off technology.
DO: get creative! coming up with your wedding hashtag can be a little tricky, but we have a few of our favorite hashtags we have seen used
#Johnson2016 #JonesPartyOf2 #TheBakersWed
#JamesWeddingBash #MrandMrsTrader #AbeLovesCarrie
Of course, do something that fits you as a couple and that is meaningful. These are just some of our favorite ideas to get started.
DO: create a slideshow of your wedding hashtag using EventsTag.com. You can stream a live slideshow at your reception with any photos that have been tagged with your wedding hashtag. The free version allows for 6 hours of streaming (you can buy additional time as needed), the only catch is that they have a small logo of theirs in the corner to promote their service. This could be a great feature for your reception!
